St Cross Electronics Mono Championship
16/17 August 2014 / Silverstone GP
This is a flagship event for the Club; and we have a huge, very high quality entry. It is also a large, busy and complex meeting.
READ THE FOLLOWING POINTS CAREFULY!
Event documents are attached:
- Silverstone GP Entry List #4
- Timetable Issue ONE
- Final_Instructions_Issue ONE
- Paddock_Plan_Issue ONE
- Supplementary Regulations Issue ONE
Entry List:
- The entry is full, with reserves waiting for places. If you need to withdraw your entry contact me ASAP
- The Provisional Entry List shows the most recent status for Reserves. We will continue to update reserves with any changes to their status prior to the event
- Check your entry details and contact me if you have any corrections or queries
Park-Up:
- As usual please co-operate with the Park Up Team and other competitors to get everyone set up conveniently and tidily. Do not take up Monoposto paddock area with non-working vehicles or trailers; there is plenty of parking space to accommodate these nearby.
- MSVR passes will be posted to those that do not already have them. If you do not have passes by Saturday 9 August then please contact me.
Event Format:
- This event follows an unusual format for a Monoposto Championship event
- All classes are combined in a single grid for all track sessions
- There is one 25 minute qualifying session and two 20 minute races
- Rolling starts will be used
- Study the Paddock Plan to ensure you know how to get to the Assembly Area. The entrance to the Assembly Area will be marshalled to help competitors enter in order.
Scrutineering:
- With the help of the Scrutineering team, we have arranged for scrutineering to be done in-situ. The Scrutineers have a lot of cars to process in a short time and it is essential that everyone co-operates to make this possible:
- Sign on at the correct time and keep your Sign On ticket with the car
- Ensure you or a representative is with your car at the start of scrutineering time which is 9.00; to remove bodywork, demonstrate lights and cut outs etc.
- Leave all your drivers equipment with the car at the start of Scrutineering time. Do not take your overalls to the Drivers Briefing.
- Take all your kit out of its bags before the Scrutineers arrive.
- St Cross Electronics Mono Championship Regulation 5.13.3 will not apply at this event.
Drivers Briefing:
- The Monoposto Drivers Briefing will be held in the Monoposto Paddock at 10.15. Attendance at the Briefing is compulsory for all drivers.
On Track:
- Drive safely; with care, consideration and respect for your fellow competitors;
- Because the Monoposto races are multi-class there will be speed differentials between cars on the track. The field is very large and you are likely to encounter other drivers and cars that you have not previously shared a track with. It is essential that all drivers take care when overtaking or lapping slower cars, and all drivers must keep a constant watch in their mirrors for faster cars coming up behind.
- Particularly in poor visibility and wet weather, all drivers must remember that there may be much slower cars ahead of them, or much faster cars behind them: concealed in the spray. If you are closing on a slower car in heavy spray remember that it is very unlikely that he can see you in his mirrors!
- At all times respect other drivers and ensure that they have the track space that they need to be safe.
- Silverstone GP is a long, fast circuit which puts a lot of strain on the car. Make sure you have enough fuel in your car – the track sessions are longer than usual! An extra spanner-check on vital components and fluid lines may save your day, and avoid spoiling a track session for many others.
- If you have mechanical problems while on track:
- Get the car into the pits or off the track at a safe stopping point as soon as possible. Do not continue to stagger round, possibly dropping fluid, and acting as a moving chicane.
- Leave the car with steering wheel correctly attached, drive in neutral, and the electrics isolated
- You may think these are obvious actions to take, but we have had big-grid races delayed, shortened, and even red flagged at this venue because drivers have not followed these simple guidelines. Any track time that’s lost cannot be recovered and directly affects more than 50 other drivers!
Awards Presentations:
- Awards Presentations will held be at the Monoposto Club Hub as soon as possible after each day’s race.
I will be at the circuit from Friday mid-pm. I can be contacted on 07770 368 648.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us than it has often been so far this season, and we can all enjoy competing on one of the best Grand Prix circuits in the world!

The future of Mallory Park itself was in doubt last year, after an argument over noise between the local council, the local residents and Mallory Park culminating in the closure of the circuit and the closure of management companies.
Agreement was reached with new promoters very late last year, but the CSCC are holding a race meeting there and the Monoposto Racing Club will be having a race there on the 20th July.
The race is sponsored by Brownhills Glass Company, there are trophies for overall winner, plus class 1st and 2nd places.
Monoposto is racing at Oulton Park the day before and there are special arrangements for entry fee refunds if you run into problems at Oulton Park and need to withdraw entry.

Rockingham 24/25 May
Rounds 5 & 6: St Cross Electronics Mono Championship
A reminder to send in your entry for Rockingham! It’s the first time the Club has visited this venue since the Club’s 50th Anniversary Event in 2008, and we would really like to see another big turn-out of Monoposto racers.
Please enter as early as you can. This is very helpful in terms of organisation, and remember that entry fee payments are not processed until 3 days before the event.
We will be using the 1.94 mile International Super Sports Car circuit at Rockingham (Circuit Layout B in the Blue Book), and will be based in the inner paddock. Monoposto will occupy one complete side of this large area, so it should be a relatively comfortable weekend. General Testing is available on this circuit layout on Friday 23 May, contact Rockingham on www.rockingham.co.uk/testing/test-day-calendar-rockingham.php for details and booking.
Rockingham runs anticlockwise and is the only circuit in the UK with a top-gear banked corner. It is an amazing venue, which isn’t used all that often, so this is a rare chance!
Spa Summer Classic: 27-29 June
We are just topping-off our entry list for this very popular event, so if you want to do Spa this year but have not yet entered you must contact me immediately and we will try to fit you in.
Mallory Park: 20 July
Our expectation is that this non-championship event will be going ahead, so make a note of it in your diary. The meeting is to be run by Classic Sports Car Club and will be the only car race event at Mallory this year. Following the circuit’s change of management, the 2014 track licence is expected to come through in the next couple of weeks, and we will then issue entry forms.
Contact: 9-18 May
I am out of the office from 9 to 18 May, but will have access to email. If you post in a Rockingham entry during this period please confirm by email that you have entered so I can keep our entry status up to date. If you need to contact me urgently while I’m away please send a text to 07770 368648 and I will call back.

The Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Award continues in 2013, and the winning novice drivers will win some race entries for the 2015 season.
Each eligible driver, ie one bearing the novice cross, accrues class points towards the SUNBAC Nova Award as per current Monoposto regulations.
This score is then multiplied by the number of class starters, and then divided by 10.

Provisional Entry List (issue 3)
Provisional Timetable (issue 5)
New: There is a new page on Monoposto website, called LIVE TIMING, and should display the live timing event from the meeting provided by TSL Timing. Also on that page is the MSVR twitter commentary. This is being tested at Donington and if successful will be used for the rest of the season.
On Saturday evening there will be a Darts Tournament will be run from 7 p.m. at the Club Hub. You can play in singles, pairs or teams, just let me know when you turn up at the circuit or during the day on Saturday what you are doing, so I can plan. We’ll start at 7 p.m. and run until we can’t see the dart board any more! We’ll play by 301 rules which, from my recollection from 20 years ago when I last played, is start with a double and end on a double.
I will state now that the board may not be at the regulation 68 inches from the ground, but we will try to get an Oche line 7 feet, 9 and a half inches from the board. It’s a magnetic dart board so the time limit rule on how long a dart needs to stay attached to the board will be reduced from 5 seconds to 2 seconds – a stiff breeze may result in a lot of no scores if we’re not careful.
There will be a small prize, probably edible.
Bring drinks, nibbles and chairs – entertainment will be provided by those of us that can’t throw well. If anyone wants to volunteer to referee, that would be great. Otherwise you can all suffer the dodgy refereeing by myself. Anyone good at maths can also volunteer – I’m useless! Pray for good weather.
