The Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Award is a new initiative for 2011, where the winning novice drivers will win some race entries for the 2012 season.
Each eligible driver, accrues class points towards the Nova Award, subject to number of race starters as per Monoposto regulation 1.6.1. As per Monoposto Class Championships, the best 12 of 14 results will count.
After ten rounds, despite not scoring highly, Marcus Sheard (1800) has a extended his cushion over Chris Hill (1400) and John Rawlings (1000) who are in tied for second place. Mat Jordan after scoring highly at Brands Hatch GP is now third.
The points situation may well change towards the end of a season as the best 12 of 14 scores will be counted.

There were three contenders for the 2011 Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy. Each driver qualified on pole position for their class. Each won their class and each claimed the bonus point for fastest lap. These men were Peter Venn in the 2000 Classic class Anson SA4, Tristan Cliffe from Mono2000 in his Dallara F398 and Olly Thorpe from Mono1800 in his Royale. As the 1800 class had the greatest number of entrants, it was Olly who claimed the prize.

The Brands GP circuit meeting will host the Monoposto BBQ, catered this year by by MSV, and held at the Brands Hatch Kentagon, starting at 6.30 pm on Saturday 20th August.
All Monoposto and MSV F3 Cup drivers, team members, officials and guests are welcome.
The menu will consist of chicken, sausage, jacket potato, coleslaw (with a vegetarian alternative to the meat items).
This is always an enjoyable social event, and we hope as many people as possible will come along.
Tickets cost £7.50 each – please use the attached form (click) to order these in advance.
Last years Baking Grand Prix competition was such a success, it will be repeated this year, and allows drivers, their partners and team members a chance to show that as well as being demons on track, they are demons in the kitchen as well.
This already-legendary competition (click here for last years) will be held on Saturday 20th August. Entrants for the stomach-churningly exciting contest should bring their entries – in the form of any item of food which they have baked themselves – to the Monoposto Hospitality Awning in the Paddock before 2.00pm on the Saturday, where Sarah Harvey will arrange the Judging. As last year this will be done “blind” by the allegedly experienced and arguably incorruptible Monoposto Baking GP Judges Team.
Entry is free and anyone foolish enough to be associated with Monoposto or MSV F3 Cup racing is eligible to compete.
Entrants should also come along to the BBQ where (hopefully) the entries can be sampled by everyone, and a magnificent(ish) Trophy will be presented to the intrepid winner.
Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy
Monoposto Championship Round 9 (ie Saturday’s event) at the Brands GP meeting has been nominated for the 2011 Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy.
Ray Dackombe very sadly died in 2008. He was a longstanding and key Member of the Club. His abilities as Paddock Co-ordinator on Race Days contributed in many ways to the Club’s success, and to everyone’s enjoyment of the racing.
The Ray Dackombe Memorial is a racing Trophy so is awarded for performance on track. The criteria will be standard “class” points which will be awarded for both qualifying and race positions, plus for fastest in class race laps in the Monoposto Championship races on Saturday 20th August. Points will be added up for each Monoposto class and the driver with the most points will be awarded the Trophy. Ties will be decided in favour of class wins/poles and if still tied, awarded to the leading point scorer of the largest class. This is one of the most prestigious Trophies awarded each year by the Club, and with such a large entry competition is going to be intense.
Cars running in the MSV F3 Cup are not eligible.
Previous Winners:
2010: Ian Hughes
2009: Chris Woodhouse
2008: Tristan Cliffe
The Monoposto Racing Club is delighted to again be competing at the BritCar 24hrs, this year on the new Silverstone Arena GP circuit. This is a very popular fixture for the Club which this year will accept entries from all Monoposto Classes, and also the MSV F3 Cup. The Arena GP circuit can start 54 cars with 8 reserves so there is the exciting prospect of a huge field of modern slicks & wings cars competing on this tremendous new track layout, possibly setting a new UK record for greatest number of single seaters to compete in a race.
Summary Event Information:
The meeting is Promoted by BritCar 24 Hr Ltd. The Race Organisers are the British Racing & Sports Car Club.
Timetable:
Friday 30 Sep: Qualifying Session (20 mins), Race 1 (20 mins)
Saturday1 Oct: Race 2 (20 mins)
The intention is to have separate grids for MSV F3 and Monoposto class cars, with the MSV F3 cars starting first.
A competitor’s fastest time in Qualifying will set their grid position for Race 1, their second fastest time will set grid position their grid position for Race 2.
Entries will be selected as follows:
· For entries received before the end of 31 August 2011, 16 places will be allocated to MSV F3 Cup competitors prioritised by the number of MSV F3 Cup races the driver has started this year. 38 places will be allocated to Monoposto competitors prioritised by the number of Monoposto Championship races the driver has started this year.
· For entries received after 31 August any remaining places and reserve positions will be allocated on the basis of order of receipt of entry, regardless of whether they are MSV F3 or Monoposto entries.
Reserves who practice, and who are ready to race but are unable to gain a place on the grid will have their entry fees refunded pro-rata to track time (ie practice only: 66% refund, practice plus one race only 33% refund)
Entries will close at the end of Friday 23 September. Prior to this deadline, entries which are withdrawn (notified in writing or email) will have entry fees refunded in full. After the deadline no refunds will be made for withdrawn entries.

The provisional date 30 Sept/1 Oct in the Monoposto and MSV F3 Calendars has been confirmed as being part of the support package for this year’s BritCar 24hr race, on the new Silverstone Arena Grand Prix Circuit.
This will be a non-Championship Monoposto event, and will be part of the MSV F3 Cup series. Competitors will get a single 20 minute qualifying session and a 20 minute race on Friday 30st September, followed by a second 20 minute race on Saturday 1st October.
Although the Arena circuit grid can accommodate a massive 54 cars, a capacity entry is expected for this very popular event. 39 places will be allocated to Monoposto Championship runners with priority for entries based on the number of Monoposto Championship rounds entered prior to Silverstone. 15 places for MSV F3 Cup entrants will be allocated in a similar way. All remaining places after the 12 September will be allocated on the basis of date of receipt of entry. Entry forms will be available shortly, and will be emailed to all regular entrants
The Club is very pleased we’ve been again able to be part of the BritCar 24 Hrs meeting. Last year’s event was tremendously popular and very exciting, although hopefully we will be able to enjoy better weather this year!
