BACKGROUND

From its launch as MSV F3 Cup in 2011, F3 Cup can actually trace its origins back to 1990, when the ARP Formula 3 Championship was founded.   ARP F3 became Club F3 in 2006, which was rebranded BRSCC F3 in 2009. MotorSportVision took over the series for the 2011 season branding it MSV F3 Cup in 2011 and regaining championship status in 2012.

It has always allowed drivers to sample close to contemporary Formula 3 cars in full F3 specification but without the full excesses and cost implications of the professional championship.

F3 Cup can legitimately claim to be the fastest championship in the UK with lap times consistently being the fastest recorded at an indiviual meeting, and 5 outright circuit lap records being held either by an F3 Cup driver or former British F3 cars which are eligible to race in F3 Cup

The Monoposto Racing Club, is providing administration, managerial and promotional services to F3 Cup for the 2021 season.

For full information, please see F3 Cup's dedicated website.

CAR ELIGIBILITY

Dallara F317 in EuroFormula specification now has its own class - F3 Euro.
Dallara F308 & F312 cars make up the F3 Cup class.
An Invitation class allows other cars to race subject to approval.

Tyres are free and limited to 6 sets of slicks for the 2021 season.

CAR PREPARATION / F3 CUP TEAMS

Whilst there are some drivers who prepare and run their own cars, most drivers employ the services of a race team to prepare and maintain their car.   Some of these teams offer an arrive and drive service for drivers wishing to sample F3 Cup without the initial capital outlay of a car.

These teams include CF Racing, Chris Dittmann Racing and Team Fox Racing, but any professional racing team with or without single seater experience should be able to adapt quickly.

UNIVERSITY & HIGHER EDUCATION TEAMS

The University of Wolverhampton had enjoyed good success in F3 Cup with the cars prepared and maintained by students.   Many of these students have gone on to enjoy success in profesional motorsport, including Formula One.   F3 Cup would welcome teams from other university and higher education bodies offering either dedicated motorsports courses or within the STEM fields - Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.

FASTEST UK SINGLE SEATER CHAMPIONSHIP...

A bold claim, but F3 Cup drivers hold the outright lap record at three UK venues, but cars which are F3 Cup eligible cars set the outright lap record at further five UK circuits / configurations.
