Monoposto Racing Club is very pleased to announce that Cartek Automotive Electronics has agreed to award a new Trophy for the Best Prepared Monoposto Car in any class at each Monoposto Championship Meeting.
The criteria for the Cartek Trophy will be more associated with preparation rather than purely appearance and will take into consideration a multitude of factors including hard work, ingenuity, safety, as well as cleanliness and overall appearance. It’s expected that these criteria will enable a variety of winners to be selected during the year, highlighting different approaches to achieving excellence in car preparation. Judging will be done by the Monoposto Eligibility Scrutineer and the Championship Co-ordinator. The award will be made on the first day of each meeting, giving the trophy-winning team the opportunity to showcase their work in the paddock.
In addition Cartek have offered a very attractive discount on their products to all Monoposto members.
Cartek Automotive Electronics Ltd manufacture a range of motorsport products but are most notable for producing very small, lightweight Solid State Battery Isolators. Developed specifically for motorsport applications this device is a major advance in the safety and reliability of race vehicles. This particular product has become the preferred choice in many categories of motorsport from club racers through to European FiA Rallycross and international GT racing.
Other products include the only motorsport LED Rain Light which meets the latest FiA specification and an Electronic Rain Light Switch which offers drivers the ability to quickly switch their LED rain light into a hazard warning flashing mode should they encounter a problem with their car and wish to warn drivers behind that they are stationary or moving slowly. This has been proven to help prevent rear end crashes.
Another recent safety product from Cartek is the Coolant Level Sensor which will alert drivers if they are loosing water from their coolant system, perhaps from a punctured radiator or loose hose, before overheating and engine damage occurs.

£1,000 Worth of Awards to be Won Annually by New Race Drivers
Monoposto Racing Club has been leading the way in organising low cost single seater racing for its members for over 50 years. The Monoposto Championship is the largest single seater championship in the UK with typical entry numbers in the 50+ range.
Monoposto Racing Club has combined forces with SUNBAC to provide the Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Awards, which are specifically aimed at encouraging new drivers. SUNBAC – the Sutton Coldfield & North Birmingham Automobile club – has been historically important in introducing new competitors to motor sport. Although SUNBAC is no longer active in Motorsport organisation their major support for the Nova Awards means that these now offer a long-term platform to help new drivers develop their careers.
Each year from 2011 to 2015, as part of the Monoposto Championship, the Awards will go to the first and second place drivers on Championship points won in any Mono class, who start their season as “novices”. The Awards provide two free twin header Monoposto Race entries in the following season for the winner, and one free twin header race entry for the runner up. The total value of the Awards is approximately £1000 each year; arguably the most valuable prize fund in club-level single seater racing.
The Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Awards are open to any full Monoposto member, who starts their Monoposto Championship year still needing to be observed and to obtain some or all of the initial 6 signatures on their competition licence Upgrade Card. To be eligible for the Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Awards, a competitor will therefore start their Mono Championship campaign as a novice race driver as defined by the MSA, with the car carrying the compulsory black/yellow cross.
The Monoposto SUNBAC Nova Awards are a positive recognition that Monoposto is a key entry point into single seater racing in the UK, and one which also enables racers to progress to faster cars as they gain experience.
Monoposto Chairman Nick Harrison commented “Anyone thinking of racing a single seater season could buy a competitive car, ready to race for less than £5,000, and with race entries among the lowest in club racing we are going a long way to achieving our goal, to make single seater racing an affordable and enjoyable experience. We are delighted by SUNBAC’s support, the Awards will keep this famous name to the fore in club motorsport in a very appropriate way, and enable us to extend the scheme for the next five years”

Entering the St Cross Electronics Mono Championship
Send in your completed Championship Registration and Race Entry Forms by post, fax or email. Guest Championship Registration is available. You can enter more than one race on a single Entry Form, by ticking the relevant boxes. You must provide means of payment with the Entry Form for all races entered; in the form of one or more cheques, or valid debit/credit card details. Entries will not be accepted without valid means of payment. Entries will be acknowledged by email, unless you request postal communications.
Championship race entries are usually accepted on a first come–first served basis. For the Silverstone GP event priority will be given to Championship point scorers, in order of points scored, provided their entry is received at least two weeks prior to the event.
Payments for each Championship event are processed immediately after the Closing deadline, which is 3 days prior to the event. Refunds will be made for entries withdrawn (notified by email/post) before the Closing deadline. No refunds or credits will be given for entries withdrawn after this deadline. If you realise in advance that you have a problem and may need to withdraw, please contact us and we will do everything we can to help!
Championship Event Formats
There are two different Championship event formats this year:
- Twin headers take place over two days with each full entry having two qualifications and two races
- Double headers take place on one day with each full entry having one qualification and two races.
Qualification and races are scheduled at 15 minutes duration, except for Silverstone GP which are 20 minutes
At all Championship events except Silverstone GP the entry will be divided by classes into two grids, which have separate qualifications and races. Hence at a normal Twin header event the Club will have a total of 4 qualification sessions and 4 races over the weekend.
Entering only one qual/race in a weekend? Sharing a car? One driver with two cars?
You can use the Entry Form to enter and compete on only one day of a twin header event ie compete in one qualification and one race, by ticking the relevant box. It’s also possible for two drivers to share a car over a twin header event, each driver competing on one of the days. If you wish to share a car in this way, or to enter only one race in a double header event (ie Castle Combe, Oulton, Silverstone GP), then please contact us to arrange this.
If you plan to enter two cars with one driver, with a car in each of the two Monoposto grids, then please let us know well in advance, as we can then try to manage race day schedule to accommodate this.
Discount for Full Championship Entry
This year for the first time the Club is offering a discount to drivers who enter and pay in full for all Championship races before 31 March 2013. The discount is 7% of the total entry fee cost (ie worth £175) – approximately equivalent to the cost of a single race. We hope this is a reward for loyal competitors, and a realistic encouragement to commit to a full season.
For overall cost reasons the Club needs to limit the total number of discounted Full Championship Entries, so these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you wish to take advantage of this offer please contact us by phone or email in the first instance to ensure its availability.
If you take up the discount offer, but subsequently withdraw from one or more races prior to their Closing date you will be eligible for a refund in the normal way. However the £175 discount will be deducted from the first refund that you receive, which will effectively return you to a non-discounted entry status.
Spa Summer Classic (Non-Championship)
The Spa Summer Classic will take place again this year on 14-16 June. The format and schedule will be similar to previous years. Qualifying and race durations are each 25 minutes, so total scheduled track time per entry is 100 minutes. Qualifying is on Friday 14 June (two sessions), Race 1 on Saturday, and Race 2 on Sunday – finishing at lunchtime to allow time to get to the ferry/tunnel.
We will again have the use of the F1 garages for the meeting, and will be sharing the track with the French “Kent” FF1600 series.
Spa entries are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Payment is processed on acceptance of entries. Refunds for withdrawals are made provided that we are able to substitute another entry for yours. (This is usually possible).

St. Cross Electronics will continue to be the title sponsor for the Monoposto Racing Club’s championship, the St. Cross Electronics Mono Championship in 2013
This year the St. Cross Electronics Mono Championship has fulfilled expectations as the most popular single seater racing championship in the UK, attracting entries of more than 60 cars for some rounds. In 2013 the Championship will have 14 rounds on leading UK circuits at race meetings organised by Motorsport Vision Racing.
St. Cross Electronics is one of Europe’s leading cable assembly and cable harness manufacturers. The company’s Managing Director, Dax Ward, who is himself a very competitive Monoposto racer, said: “Our partnership with Monoposto has helped us develop the presence that St. Cross Electronics has already successfully built in the motorsport marketplace. Our business in motorsport has grown strongly, we can be found on British Superbikes through to NASCAR, and 2012 has seen us launch innovative new products such as the FISW-X Steering wheel. However, we are not just a manufacturer, we design and engineer whole projects. One of the greatest attributes about the St Cross Electronics Mono Championship is that individuals can engineer their cars and there are some very good engineers out there racing, from F1 to Aerospace. So this championship really suits our own business ethos.”
Monoposto’s Chairman, Nick Harrison, said: “Our relationship with St Cross Electronics has helped to further raise the profile of our Championship, and we are delighted that St. Cross Electronics has chosen to continue with us in 2013: we will be working closely with Dax and his colleagues to help them achieve their objectives. In 2013 the St. Cross Mono Championship will again have a top line race calendar delivered at the best possible value for money. With the support of St Cross Electronics and also the help of our race organising partners MSVR we aim to make 2013 season another excellent season for our competitors”
