EVENT FORMAT

Monoposto hasn't been to Croft since the Tiedeman Trophy meeting in 2016 and the main Monoposto Championship in 2010.

The circuit lap record is held by Sergio Perez in a Dallara F308, the same chassis as some of the F3A entrants will be running - but Perez's car would be at low ride height and 26mm restrictor.

The race format will be 1 qualifying session and 3 races, each scheduled to be 15 minutes in length.   Qualifying will set the grid for race 1, and drivers fastest laps from race 1 will determine the grid for race 2, quickest taking pole position and the drivers fastest laps from race 2 will determine the grid for race 3.

RAY DACKOMBE MEMORIAL TROPHY

Ray Dackombe very sadly died in 2008. He was a longstanding and a key member of the Club. His abilities as Paddock Coordinator on Race Days contributed in many ways to the Club’s success, and to everyone’s enjoyment of the racing. After his death a trophy was donated in his memory and a race is nominated each year to be the Memorial race where the trophy is contested.

The Ray Dackombe Memorial Trophy is awarded for performance on track. The criteria is standard “class” points which are awarded for both qualifying and race positions, plus a point for fastest lap in class. Points will be added up for each Monoposto class and the driver with the most points will be awarded the Trophy.  Ties will be decided in favour of class wins/poles and if still tied, awarded to the leading point scorer of the largest class.

The 2024 Trophy will be awarded to Alex Bagnall (1600) who secured the trophy on a tie-break with George Line (F3A).

CIRCUIT History

Croft was another former RAF base which became a circuit after the war.    The original circuit, used until the early 1960's is no longer in use, but its layout can be seen on satellite imagery to the left of the current circuit.      The new triangular layout, used from 1963 to the 1980s was eventually closed down due to lack of funds to maintain the circuit.   Rallycross proved to be Croft's saviour and the success of this lead to a revival of the 1980's circuit, with a major refurbishment in 1997 saw a new infield section which is the circuit layout we know today.     The circuit is now managed by the BARC.   

Croft has noise abatement limits monitored by the Council, so ensure your car is silenced adequately when presenting for noise testing, and an excessive drive-by noise may result in being black flagged.
